What is your new job?
As the Team Lead Composite Materials and Processes at Airborne Composites Automation you are an expert in the field of composite materials and processes. You are able to transfer your expert knowledge to the whole business unit, and be the lead in the materials and processes team.
You are knowledgeable with current composite manufacturing processes and materials, and you keep up to date with the latest developments in the composites industry. You are able to use this knowledge for defining automated manufacturing processes of composite materials for our automated and digital solutions. You support business development management, projects, and business unit management with your expert insights.
You are able to take the technical lead in development and commercial projects, you can act as a lead engineer and a senior process engineer.
You are responsible for managing and developing the materials and processes team. You will coach, motivate, and give technical support to the team members make them better and more effective (process) engineers. It is estimated that the balance between engineering and managing is about 75% vs 25% respectively.
What are your responsibilities ?
Your daily tasks consist of:
Supporting business development, projects, and business unit management with expert insights on composite materials and processing
Contributing in projects as a (lead) engineer
Providing input for the resource planning
Managing and developing your team members
Keep yourself and your team up to date with the latest development in the composites industry
Ensure that the team follows the engineering procedures and harmonised ways of working
Reporting Lines and Interactions
You will be the line manager of the materials and processes team members, currently the team consists of 6 engineers. You will report to the Operations Manager of the business unit Airborne Composites Automation. You will work together with colleagues from the other engineering teams (Software, Mechanical and Automation), project managers, and business development.
Education: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in composite materials process engineering in an commercial production environment
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a leading role
- Experience with having direct reports is an advantage
- Broad composites manufacturing knowledge
- Thermoplastic composites processing
- Composite materials
- Lean Six Sigma knowledge is an advantage
- Industrial automation knowledge is an advantage
- Proficient (technical) English
- Good verbal and written communication
- Teamwork - ownership – precision
- Decision making, initiative, development of employees, organising, problem analysis.
