What is your new job?

As our new Senior Lead Engineer at Airborne Composites Automation you will work within multidisciplinary project teams on some of the most complex challenges in composite manufacturing. As a Senior Lead Engineer you are responsible for the design of our automated manufacturing lines, cells, equipment, and tooling. This can be as diverse as from entire system step up as well the smallest equipment modifications. Airborne it’s cells will be in the majority built up from exciting equipment such as Robots, tracks, carriers etc. You will take the lead responsibility for ensuring the design and builds of various equipment are on track partnering with your peers, while maintaining the (client) requirements, design codes and of course the safety standards. When it comes to delivery at the final product whether this is at the Client or internal at Airborne the teams are owning the assembly and installation together with the validation testing. With a maturing product portfolio, you get the opportunity to mature the technical foundation of those products. You help craft the engineering vision, own the technical landscape, and develop applications that grow with our organization. You ship software as often as possible as you believe incremental learning is of the utmost importance.

What do you work on?

At Airborne we have created several software solutions responsible for driving composite production machines, facilitating work preparation, and handling the data output generated by our robotic cells.

You will be leading the system designs of these automated manufacturing cells and/or lines in collaboration with your senior stakeholders. This will be custom designing of specific machines and equipment, setting up requirements and the basics for the final design.

You are responsible for:

  • Keeping track of the progress of various project covering all areas.
  • Applying best practices and keeping team members accountable for their part of the project
  • Taking initiative to address the larger technical needs of the product you work on and always keep the customer at the center of everything you do
  • Collaborate within the software team to improve our way of working

Job requirements


  • Degree in a Technical direction such as Mechanical Engineering and/or Industrial design

Work experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role with ideally in a similar industry.
  • Wide understanding of machine/equipment/tooling structural design
  • Business level of English


  • Ability and attitude to look beyond project boundaries
  • A bias for action. When you see a problem, you solve it.
  • Optional: experience mentoring and leading technically other engineers
  • Optional: experience with automation and control
