What is your new job?

The mechanical engineer is responsible for the design of our automated manufacturing lines, cells, and equipment. This may extend from the system up to the smallest equipment details. A large part of our systems will be built up from existing equipment, such as the robots, tracks, carriers, etc.. The mechanical engineer shall be able to specify those and ensure a good match with the rest of the equipment. The design shall be in compliance to client requirements, design codes and safety standards. The mechanical engineer supports the technicians during assembly and he will guide the validation (testing) of the equipment.

What are your responsibilities?

You will be able to perform the following primary tasks:

  • Design of machines and equipment, or tools as part of automated manufacturing lines or cells;
    • Setting requirements and basis of design.
    • Create the detail drawings and assembly drawings.
    • Document the design choices .
  • Writing technical specifications for purchasing parts, including incoming inspection requirements.
  • Configuration management of equipment.
  • Coordination of assembly and installations of complex systems.
  • Contribute to the definition of FAT and SAT plans, or individual equipment test plans.
  • Writing technical design reports, test plans, equipment manuals.
  • Contributing to client tenders (schedule, cost and price calculations).
  • Where applicable you coordinate assembly and installation of equipment by colleagues and by subcontractors.
  • You will communicate internally and externally by writing and presenting technical reports and provides both clear verbal and written support for assembly and installation, by assembly descriptions, work instructions and manuals.
  • You are capable of supporting project managers or senior and commercial managers by providing good presentable information and also can give technical substantiations to clients in client meetings.

Reporting Lines and Interactions

You will report to the Teamlead Mechanical Engineering of ACA. You will work together with your colleagues in the business unit (Project Management, Mechanical, Automation, Software, and Process Engineering) and ACA’s partners.

Job requirements


  • Technical education such as mechanical engineering, industrial design engineering or similar.

Work experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience in machine or manufacturing equipment design.


  • Proficient in 3D design, SolidWorks or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of (machine) design standards, tolerances, and legislation.
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken).
