What is your new job?

Airborne is a business engaged in the design, development, manufacture, and automation of products constructed of composite materials for a variety of applications and markets. Our vision is to make composites affordable through the application of Automation & Digitalisation.

The role of Maintenance Technician is to carry out reactive and planned maintenance as well as assembly of production equipment, at Airborne UK site and at the site of our customers. In addition, they are expected to carry out production tasks such as composites or metalwork to support the company whilst maintaining a culture of H&S and Quality.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Reports to Manufacturing Engineering Manager
  • Interaction with other Airborne employees

Main Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and undertake periodic preventative maintenance on all equipment, components, and installations on site and at customer sites if required.
  • Provide prompt response to breakdowns and resolve the issue as quickly as possible through fault finding and corrective action on site and customer sites if required.
  • Ensure that all production equipment is in good working order to prevent disruption of activities.
  • Maintenance of newly installed automation equipment and machinery including robots.
  • Recommend replacement for old or faulty electrical components or fittings to the management.
  • To follow specific Airborne H&S policy and best practise as advised by Production Supervisor and available documentation.
  • Ability to follow drawings and procedure sheets.
  • Provision of engineering and operational support to the manufacturing area where the individual will need to be flexible and support production between maintenance periods, this could include things like operating CNC 3 axis router, laying up composites, fabricating parts as per engineering drawings.
  • To ensure general cleanliness and tidiness of the facility
  • To provide contributions for potential improvements in efficiency or technical solutions, as may benefit Airborne.
  • General computer literacy
  • To complete timesheets promptly to allow tracking of projects.
  • To follow Airborne policies as set out in the Employee Handbook

Job requirements

  • HNC/HND/C+G (or Industry equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering is preferred
  • Multi skilled Engineer (with electrical bias) with experience working in a production environment, with a fault finding and diagnostic approach.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of electrical systems, motors, actuators, PLCs, and robotics.
  • Ability to communicate well with others, both technical and non-technical
