Join Airborne Composites Automation (ACA) as a Junior Composite Process Engineer and be at the forefront of cutting-edge technology in advanced composites automation; at ACA, we develop end-to-end automation and digitalization solutions for composites parts manufacturing. We have a suite of standard automated systems, but also design bespoke solutions for specific customer needs. As a Junior Composite Process Engineer, you will be part of diverse, international and talented teams, working closely with engineering disciplines such as mechanical, automation, and software to ensure project success.


What will you be doing?

In this role, you are responsible for the development and industrialisation of automated composite processes. These can be new processes optimised for better output and cost efficiency, or existing processes that need to be robustly automated. Furthermore, you will take care of process design, process validation by testing, and making the process robust through analysis and continuous improvement. You will rigorously test our newly developed cells during the building phase, playing a crucial role in driving the success of our clients' projects and cementing ACA's position as an industry leader. Together, we'll shape the future of automated composite manufacturing.


What are your responsibilities?

  • Support automation and software engineers with hands-on testing of equipment and cells.
  • Process engineering for automated composite manufacturing.
  • Prototyping and development of processes.
  • Provide input to the conceptual system design of the automation equipment.
  • Process reports by collecting, analysing and summarising information.
  • Set up evaluation and improvement tools for process improvement.
  • Providing clear documentation and work instructions.
  • Creating procedures and test method for incoming material tests

Job requirements

Education

  • Technical education: Applied Science or University level such as Mechanical engineering, Aerospace engineering, Applied physics

Work experience

  • 0-3 years’ experience within the relevant technology area or education.
  • Demonstrated affinity with fibre reinforced polymers (composites) and polymer production processes
  • Affinity with automation and/or software is an advantage

Other

  • Hands-on mentality
  • Knowledge of composite materials, design methods, production processes
  • Knowledge of and experience with manufacturing robustness methods, like Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  • Capable of using manufacturing simulation tools
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language (written and spoken)
