As a Composites Manufacturing Engineer, you will be part of diverse, international and talented teams, working closely with experts in mechanical, automation, and software development to make projects a success. In this role you will leverage your expertise in composite processing technologies to ensure our machines deliver optimal performance, meeting both our high standards and clients' specific needs, while collaboratively designing these bespoke automation solutions. You will play a crucial role in driving the success of our clients' projects and cementing ACA's position as a leader in the industry. Together, we'll shape the future of automated composite manufacturing.


What is your new job?

Your job involves designing the production process and conducting vital process tests throughout the entire design and build cycle, from concept study and prototyping to product/equipment acceptance tests (FAT & SAT). You'll always be on the lookout for ways to improve the process and will implement enhancements as needed.

In this position, you'll take the lead on technical projects, supporting the Project Manager and collaborating with the System Engineer to tackle challenges effectively. Plus, you'll be the go-to person for clients when it comes to sorting out technical issues.


You are responsible for:

Process design

  • Process design for automated manufacturing
  • Prototyping and development of processes
  • Implementation and testing of (new) processes
  • Process reports by collecting, analysing and summarising information
  • Commercial and project work
  • Contributing to client tenders (schedule, cost and price calculations)
  • Technical leadership in both commercial and internal projects
  • Work according to planning – on-time delivery

Knowledge management

  • Scouting of new technologies that fall in your scope.
  • Keep the material and processing data base up to date through data collections and technology scouting
  • Recommendations for future processing development within Airborne
  • Sharing your knowledge autonomously to his fellow colleagues, peers and senior management. This includes presenting internally Airborne and at conferences.

Reporting Lines and Interactions

In this role you will report to the team lead Materials & Processes. You will collaborate with your colleagues in the business unit (Project Management, Software, Automation, Process Engineering), Airborne UK’s partners, colleagues in Airborne NL, suppliers, and customers.


Job requirements

Education

  • Technical education: Applied Science or University level such as Mechanical engineering, Aerospace engineering, Applied physics

Work experience

  • At least 3-5 years experience within the relevant technology area, preferable within industry.
  • Experience with fibre reinforced polymers (composites) and polymer production processes
  • Affinity with automation and/or software is an advantage
